Theressia Gail Hammers, 60, Clinton, passed away Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011, at her residence.
She was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She loved to sew, quilt, and work puzzles. She was a member of Eagle Bend Apostolic Church in Clinton.
She was preceded in death by: Father, William Cleo Carter; first husband, Paul Lynn Rhea Sr.; three grandchildren, Jonathon Rhea, Nicholas Hammers, and Jeffrey Hammers.
Survivors: Mother, Margie Carter of Heiskell; husband, Johnny Hammers of Clinton; sons, Paul Rhea of Oliver Springs, William Rhea and Brandy of Powell, Johnny Hammers and Kris of Quality, Ky., Matthew Hammers of Kentucky, Rodney Hammers and Wendy of Kentucky; daughters, Donna Rhea of Tennessee, Laura Novak and Greg of Texas, Christina Meyers and Steve of Tennessee; brother, Douglas Carter and wife Cindy of Clinton; sisters, Rebecca Farrell and Todd of Clinton, Tammy Henderlight and Jeff of Claxton, Jeanette Carroll and Ronnie of Oak Ridge, Jennifer Spoon and Mike of Heiskell; best friend, Georgia Kelly; 19 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and one on the way; and a host of other relatives and friends
Her family received her friends from noon – 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, at Eagle Bend Apostolic Church with a Celebration of her Life following at 2 p.m. with the Rev. David officiating.
Her interment followed at Taylor Chapel Cemetery in Clinton.

Michael David Delmonte, 63, died Nov. 29, 2011, in Taylor, Arizona, after a year-long battle with cancer.
He was born May 1, 1948, in Ypsilanti, Mich.
He was preceded in death by: Father, Joseph Delmonte Jr.; grandparents, Samuel and Myrtle Diggs, Joseph Delmonte Sr. and Constance Grasso.
He is survived by: Mother, Lela Diggs Delmonte; brother, Stephen Delmonte and wife Jennifer, all of Clinton; children, Christopher Smiley, Dustin, Jessica, Samantha, and Amy Delmonte; five grandchildren.
He graduated from Clinton High School in 1966. He was a talented musician and singer. He worked as a long haul truck driver until his illness.
The Delmonte family thanks all those who showed their concern during Michael’s illness and death.
A special thanks is extended to Rita Deer, who cared for Michael during his illness.

Donald R. Cooper, 63, Powell, passed away at home Dec. 4, 2011.
He was of the Baptist faith. He was co-owner and operator of Coops Auto Repair for many years. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved car racing himself. He raced many times at Atomic Speedway, Tazewell Speedway and Bulls Gap Speedway. He was a loving husband, father and brother.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Preceded in death by: Parents, John E. and Elsie M. Breeden Cooper.
Survivors: Wife, Anita Cooper; sons, Austin Moore and wife Mabrena, Joshua Moore and wife Charlice; daughters, Michelle Mize and husband Eddie, Jaime Elliott and husband Carl, Sara Novak; brothers, Ronald Cooper, Michael Cooper and wife Betty, Tommy Cooper; sisters, Shirley Shultz, Barbara Anderson and husband Tommy; grandchildren, Michael, Nicki and Chuckie Mize, Austin, Catelyn and Dylan Moore, Lance and Connor Novak, Lukas and Jesse Moore; great-grandchild, Nick; special friend, Jimmy Monroe and wife Shirley.

Graveside service was at noon Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Clinton.
Pallbearers were Leon Anderson, Joshua Moore, Austin Moore, Carl Elliott and Calvin Cooper.

Carl Raymond Hicks Jr. (Ray), 59, Lake City, passed away Wednesday Dec. 7, 2011, at his residence.
He was born June 7, 1952, in Knoxville.
He was a member of Main Street Baptist Church in Lake City.
He was preceded in death by: Parents:, Carl Raymond Hicks Sr. and Peggy Ann Gibbs; half-sister, Jean Ann Hicks; step-father, Robert “Bob” Gibbs.
Survivors: Half-brothers, Scotty Hicks of Florida, Randy Hicks of Florida;nephews, Jackson Scott Hicks and Greyson Yates Hicks; niece, Hannah Elisabeth Hicks.
Visitation will be from 1 – 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Phillips officiating.

Dan Hicks Jr., Madisonville, passed away Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011, at East Tennessee Healthcare in Madisonville.
He was born Oct. 23, 1921, to the late Dan Hicks Sr. and Marion Louise Hicks.
He was preceded in death by: Brothers, Reese Lynn Hicks and Eugene King Hicks.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Madisonville.
He is survived by: Loving and devoted wife, Betty Byrum Hicks; three children, Sandi Hicks Gray of Knoxville, Dan Hicks III and wife Angie Hicks of Crossville, and Amy Hicks Richardson and husband Lloyd Richardson of Knoxville.
He is also survived by: Former wife and mother of his children, Irene Greenwood Norman; step-children, Sandy Byrum O’Neill and husband Mike O’Neill of Newark, Del., John Byrum of Madisonville, Va., David Byrum (deceased), Laura Byrum Johnson and husband Tim Johnson of Madisonville, and Shannon Byrum Sears and husband Frank Sears of Knoxville.
He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Hicks, a local legend in the newspaper publishing business, owned and operated the Monroe County Democrat from 1967 until 1990. During his remarkable career, he won several prestigious national awards including the Elijah Parish Lovejoy Award for Courage in Journalism and The Golden Quill Award for editorial excellence in 1969, and The John Peter Zenger Freedom of the Press Award in 1972. In addition, he and his staff won dozens of first place awards from the University of Tennessee State Press Association. During his career as a journalist, he worked in various capacities for several newspapers in Knoxville, Clinton, Oak Ridge, and Virginia Beach, Va.
He was a 1949 graduate of the University of Tennessee School of Journalism, and served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. Funeral was at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011, at First United Methodist Church of Madisonville, the Rev. Braxton Cotton officiating.
Interment was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, at Sunset Cemetery with military honors provided by V.F. W. Post 5156 and D.A.V. Chapter 93.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Building Fund at the First United Methodist Church of Madisonville.
Family received friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011, at First United Methodist Church of Madisonville.

Raymond A. Dotson, 78, Clinton, passed away Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, at Emeritus Senior Living in Oak Ridge.
He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Clinton and Shriners for many years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors: Wife: June Dotson; son, David Dotson and Tina; granddaughter, Grace Dotson; sister-in-law, Carleen Thurman and W.P., all of Clinton, TN.
His family held a private graveside service for him on Friday, December 2, 2011 at the Sunset Cemetery in Clinton with Pastor Mike Thompson officiating. Jones Mortuary in Clinton was in charge of all arrangements.

Christopher Davis, 29, Heiskell, passed away Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, at Norris Health and Rehabilitation Center in Norris, due to traumatic brain injury which he sustained on Nov. 1, 2009.
He gave his life to the Lord while he was in the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
There were many times while he spent time in the nursing home that the staff would call the family and tell them they didn’t think he would make it through the night, but he fought very hard for his life.
He was preceded in death by: Grandfather, Bart Pratt; great-grandparents, George and Della Cox; and best friend, Chris Woods.
Survivors: Mother and father, Shelly and Alvin Lowe of Heiskell; grandmothers, Nellie Cox Pratt of Heiskell, Letha Lowe of Clinton; five year old son whom he loved very much, Dylan Davis of Heiskell; aunt, Kimberly Pratt of Clinton; sister and brother-in-law, Stanja and Robert Phillips of Heiskell; nephew and niece, Robert (Gabby) and Kleigh Christa Phillips; cousins, Eddie Pratt and Shasta Gilliam; best Friend and caretakers, Whitney Bunch and Jonathon Carter, and Mike Carson the Administrator of Norris Health & Rehab Center.
His family received his friends from noon – 2 p.m. Tuesday Dec 6, 2011, in the chapel of Jones Mortuary with his funeral services following at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Bro. Jackie Pemberton officiating.
His interment followed at the Cox cemetery in Clinton.

He was a member of New Prospect Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed playing golf, coaching baseball and was an avid University of Tennessee football fan.

He was born Feb. 17, 1929, in Whitley County, Ky.
He was a member of the Claxton Church of God.
He was preceded in death by: Parents, Jeremy William Godsey and Eva McQuary Godsey; sister, Lois Godsey; brothers, Kenneth, Orville, Otis and Everett Godsey.
He is survived by: Loving wife of 62 years, Minnie Scalf Godsey; sons, Eddie Lamar Godsey and wife Becky of Clinton, Paul Godsey and wife Melissa of Daytona Beach, Fla., Jeremy Godsey of Clinton; sisters, Hazel Thomas and husband Earl of Illinois, Ruby Reeves and husband Jessie of Walton, Ky.; brothers, Jimmy Godsey, Ova Godsey and wife Julie, Lonnie Godsey and wife Delores, all of Corbin, Ky.; brother-in-law, Jim Scalf and wife Alma of Corbin, Ky.; sisters-in-law, Glora Edge of Booneville, Miss., Jackie Sherbert of Dalton, Ga.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends to mourn his passing.

He was of the Baptist faith and was a brick mason by trade.
He was preceded in death by: Parents, Lawrence and Gladys Dixon; grandparents; sister, Charlotte Cooper; brothers, Royal and Roger Dixon; grandson, Brandon Davis; step-sons, Jerry and Jesse Laymon.
