Wildflower walks at Norris Dam State Park
Spring blooms vibrantly near the Tennessee Valley Authority’s Norris Dam, where the 30th annual free guided walks among the flowers will be offered Saturday, March 30, and Saturday, April 6.

A 3.4-mile loop route is moderately difficult, but displays a colorful array of spring wildflowers, especially celandine poppies, spring beauties, bloodroot, yellow trout lilies and toothwort.

The walks will begin, rain or shine, at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. EDT at the TVA River Bluff Small Wild Area along the Clinch River west of Norris Dam.

The annual event is hosted by TVA in conjunction with Ijam’s Nature Center, Norris Dam State Park and the Friends of Norris Dam State Park. To reach the TVA River Bluff Small Wild Area, take U.S. Highway 441 and turn onto Dabney Road, which is approximately 1 mile north of Norris Dam, and follow the signs to the parking area.

Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and appropriate clothing for the weather. For additional information, visit TVA’s Trails web page http://www.tva.gov/river/recreation/dispersed/trail-table_hold.htm or contact the TVA Environmental Information Center at (800)-882-263.
