Ava L. Anderson, 77, Clinton, passed away Jan. 11, 2012, at Summit View Healthcare in Lake City.

She was of the Baptist faith. She retired from Kroger after 40 years of employment.

She was preceded in death by: Husband, Fred Pierce; grandson, SSgt Daniel Morris; great-grandson, Daniel Aiden Morris; parents, Samuel and Rossie Bean; sisters, Fay Bean, Alda Aulton, Helen Rogers and Reba Davis.

Survivors: Daughters, Amy Morris of Clinton, Linda Anderson and husband Don Chance of Pikesville, Md.; randchildren, Cassidy Morris, Adam Morris, both of Clinton, Eric Chance of North Carolina; great-grandchild, Alexys Morris of Michigan.

The family will receive friends from 1- 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with funeral to follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Chaplain Sherri Howse officiating.

Graveside services will follow at Zion Church Cemetery in Claxton.

MILDRED KNAPP MICHALSKI

Jan. 10, 2012

Mildred Knapp Michalski, 93, Clinton and formerly of Oliver Springs, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

She was born Nov. 19, 1918, in Cleveland, Ohio.

She lived in Oliver Springs for 30 years before moving to Clinton.

She was a warm and friendly person who enjoyed the fellowship of neighbors and friends. Following her move to the Clinton Towers she quickly made friends and enjoyed the visits of new friends.

She was preceded in death by: Parents, Otto Knapp and Anna Teresa Zarborowski Knapp; son, Ralph Kenneth Michalski.

She had no relatives however she has many friends to mourn her passing.

Friends visited from 1 – 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at Sharp Funeral Home.

The funeral service followed at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Burial and graveside services followed at Oliver Springs Cemetery.

Sharp Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

DALE TUCKER

Jan. 6, 2012

Dale Tucker, 64, Knoxville, passed away Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center of Knoxville.

He was born July 29, 1947, in Roane County to the late Arvil and Aileen Tucker.

He was a loving and good grandfather.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: Brother, Lynn Tucker; and granddaughter, Serena Nawrocki.

Survivors: Son, Christopher “Chris” Dale Tucker and wife Anne-Marie of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughters, Tammy Nawrocki and husband, Kevin of Sioux St. Marie, Mich., Brandee Stinnett and husband Greg of Oliver Springs; brother, David Tucker of Powell; grandchildren, Grant and Chase Tucker, Allie and Abbie Stinnett, David Nawrocki; several other family members.

The family would like to thank all the neighbors and the staff at CVICU at U.T. Medical Center for their kindness and compassion.

Visitation was from 2 – 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City.

Funeral service was at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Phillips officiating.

Interment followed the funeral service at Oak Grove Cemetery in Lake City.

In lieu of flowers, donations to be made to Cardiovascular at U.T. Medical Center, 2121 Medical Center Way Suite 110, Knoxville, TN 37920.

Charles Evertt Patton, 71, Clinton, passed away at his home surrounded by family Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012.

He was of the Baptist faith, long time local mechanic here in the area and loved his time on the CB Radio.

He was preceded in death by: Parents, Luther and Claudia Parks Patton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clarence and Ruby Patton, Earl Patton and William and Elizabeth Patton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Neomi and Herman Phipps and Clara Mae Hensen.

He is survived by: Wife, Patricia Patton; daughter, Angela Patton of Clinton; son, Clayton Williams of Clinton; sister, Maryanna Blankenship and husband Oscar of Livingston; sister-in-law, Mary Jewel Patton of Clinton.

A very special “Thank You” to his neice, Frances Armes, special friends, Austin Smith and Roy Smith, all the workers at Scotties (restaurant), special friend, Floyd Madron and all his CB buddies who knew him as (Grease Monkey).

The family received friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at Woodhaven Funeral Home.

Graveside services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens.

The Rev. Terry Braden officiated.

Baby Garrett Potter, infant son of Travis and Amanda Potter of Harriman, went to be with Jesus Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, from Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.

He was preceded in death by: Great-grandparents, Herbert and Cleo Potter, James Nichols, Fred and Jessie Gillentine.

Survivors: Loving Parents, Travis and Amanda Morgan Potter of Harriman; treasured grandparents, Jeff and Debbie White of Knoxville, Sandra Morgan of Dayton, Gerald Potter and Angie York of Harriman; precious great-grandmother, Bernice Nichols of Dayton; special aunts and uncles, Shannon Potter of Knoxville, Jason and Ann Morgan of Walker County, Georgia, Jason Potter of Harriman.

The family wishes to thank the nurses who attended to Baby Garrett and Amanda while at Parkwest Medical Center.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2012, at Fraker Funeral Home in Kingston with funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Larry Bolden and Bro. Tim Smith officiating.

Interment will follow the service at Roane Memorial Gardens in Rockwood.

He was the owner of J.B.’s Corner Market in Claxton.

He was born Feb. 12, 1956, in Oak Ridge.

He was preceded in death by: Wife, Wanda; and parents, James B. and Norma Jean Rhea Meredith.

Survivors: Sons, Justin Meredith and wife Natasha, Austin Meredith; brothers, Darwin Cox, Frank D. Meredith; grandchildren, Stephanie Meredith and Teagan Meredith.

The family received friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton.

Funeral service followed with Pastor Curtis Acres officiating.

Herbert Lee “Shades” Jones, 81, Devonia, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at Physician’s Regional Medical Center in Knoxville.

He was born May 12, 1930, in Stainville, Tenn.

He was a lifelong resident of Devonia and of the Baptist faith.

He was a retired coal truck driver who enjoyed playing the guitar and working with arts and crafts in his spare time.

Preceded in death by: Parents, Herbert Jones and Ollie Phillips Jones; brothers, J.L. Jones, Freeman “Buddy” Jones and Trixie Jones; sisters, Lorena Jordan, Lula Pace and Jurlena Jones.

He is survived by: Loving wife of 51 years, Gracie Faye Jones; daughter, Sandra Carroll and husband J.D.; granddaughter, Brandi Carroll; great-grandson, Braxton “Punkin” Phillips, all of Devonia; brother, C.L. Jones and wife Betty of Union, Mich.; sister, Willene McGhee and husband Leon of Petros.

He is also survived by: Brother-in-law, Clarence Daugherty and wife Clara of Twinsburg, Ohio; sister-in-law, Virginia Jones of Orlando, Fla.; special neighbors, Opal and Frankie Hite, who checked on him faithfully every day; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

The family received friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at Sharp Funeral Home.

The funeral followed at 8 p.m. in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home with the Rev. Otis Phillips and the Rev. Houston Carroll officiating.

Burial and graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at Phillips Cemetery in Devonia.

Active Pallbearers will be J.D. Carroll, Dickie Hite, Michael Carroll, James Moore, Herbie Carroll, and Leon McGhee.

Willie Hugh Wilson, 69, Clinton passed away Thursday Jan. 12, 2012, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

He was born May 1, 1942, in New River to the late Claude and Nola Patterson Wilson.

He was a member of the Farmers Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, camping, and working on cars.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: Grandparents, Hugh and Annie Carroll; infant son, Billy; and brother James Goodman.

He is survived by: Sons, Charles W. Wilson of Dandridge, and James A. Wilson of Clinton; ex-wife Hazel Dabney of Oliver Springs; step children, Gary Boshears and his wife Wendy of Frost Bottom, Barbara Holbert and her husband Fred of Rockford, Michelle Freels and her husband Gordon of Oliver Springs, and Kristi Dooley and her husband Todd of Oliver Springs; brothers, Clyde Wilson and his wife Betty of Cleveland, Ohio, and Glenn Wilson and his wife Geri of Cleveland Ohio; sister, Dorothy Jennings and her husband Danny of Clinton, 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Funerals services will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday Jan. 15, 2012, in the chapel of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with the Rev. Howard Huling and the Rev. Garvin Walls officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday Jan. 16, 2012, at Anderson Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Sunday Jan. 15, 2012, before the funeral from at the funeral home.
