Medicine collection event scheduled for March 19
The East Tennessee Medication Collection Coalition is hosting medicine take-back events on Saturday, March 19 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. to combat prescription drug abuse and help keep dangerous medications out of the water supply. This marks the first time East Tennessee coalitions have coordinated multiple events across the region on the same day.

Anderson, Blount, Knox, Monroe, Roane and Scott counties are all hosting sites this month. Residents can drop off old or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications at ten locations throughout the region.

Participants can also recycle unused medicines containing sharps, such as epinephrine allergy injections, as well as unused pricking devices for monitors still in the packaging.

Allies for Substance Abuse Prevention in collaboration with the Clinton Police Department and the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office will sponsor the collection site in Anderson County, to be held at Food City in Clinton.

A complete list of locations can be found at www.medicationcollection.org.
