Wrestling fundraiser for son of slain Clinton woman
Tennessee Mountain Wrestling (TMW) will hold a free benefit show Saturday night, January 1, at 8 p.m. at Powell Middle School with all proceeds from the event going to the son of former Anderson County Sheriff’s Department employee Davida Nicholson.

Nicholson was slain Wednesday morning, Dec. 22, during an attempted robbery as she sat inside her vehicle outside the TVA Federal Credit Union on Wilson Road in Knoxville. Nicholson’s 20-year-old autistic son, Richard “Bubba” Vowell, was sitting inside the vehicle with his mother when she was killed.

“TMW will take donations for Bubba and all those donations will be put into a trust fund for him,” said a TMW news release.

TMW wrestler and promoter Terry “The K-Town Daddy” Landell announced this week that TMW would continue to help support Vowell by holding one or two shows annually specifically for him.

During Saturday’s event, Landell will wrestle Vowell for a championship belt.

“Bubba will win the match and become Champion for Life and get to keep the belt,” said Landell.

Landell said Vowell will also get a special seat for the event and will be given a toy wrestling ring and toy wrestlers.

For those who can’t attend the show but still wish to donate, Landell can be reached through Tennessee Mountain Wrestling at 865-973-8092.
