Civil War artifacts wanted for copying, preservation
In celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, the Museum of Appalachia, Lake City Public Library and Betty Anne Jolly Norris Community Library are sponsoring an event allowing residents to have their family Civil War manuscripts, artifacts and photos digitally copied and preserved for posterity.

Materials collected here and around the state will be used by the Tennessee State Library and Archives to create a virtual exhibit on the war in Tennessee. Original materials will be returned to their owners at the event; owners also will receive copies of the digital images and guidance on basic conservation techniques.

Reservations are required to participate in the event, Dec. 9 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the museum, 2819 Andersonville Highway. To register online, visit http://www.tennessee.gov/tsla/cwtn/events.htm—or call the Lake City library, 426-6762, or the Norris library, 494-6800.

For more information, contact Jami Await at (615) 253-3470.
