Mammography unit at CPTC
Some women make excuses for not getting a mammogram, stating a mammogram hurts or they just forgot.

The mobile mammography unit from Thompson Cancer Survival Center will be at Clinton Physical Therapy Center at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12.

Most insurances carriers are accepted and persons who are uninsured or meet financial criteria will be eligible for a free mammogram. The screening will take place in the upper fitness building behind Clinton Physical Therapy Center. Please park in the upper lot.

Antiques Festival
The 10th Annual Clinch River Antiques Festival will be held Oct. 8 - 9 in Historic Downtown Clinton The Festival begins with a kick-off party from 6 - 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8 in the Hoskins/Lane Park on Market Street.

On Saturday, Oct. 9, the rain or shine run sfrom 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Market Street will be closed to traffic as antiques dealers and artisans line the street for the Antiques Festival. The festival will feature more than 75 exhibitors from East Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, and other surrounding states.

Flu shots at Health Department
Seasonal influenza vaccine is now available at the Anderson County Health Department. A mass flu vaccine clinic will be offered every Friday in October from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Please call the Health Department at (865) 425-8801 to make an appointment to get your flu vaccine. You may also go to the Health Department between 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday - Friday as a walk-in and get a flu vaccine however; you will have to wait until a nurse is available. The cost of the flu shot is $32.00. The Health Department will bill traditional Medicare the red, white and blue card - for those with that coverage, but no Medicare Advantage Plans or private insurance will be billed for the shot.

Clinton Middle School will be holding the first monthly meeting of the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5. The meeting will be held in the library of Clinton Middle School, 110 N Hicks Street, behind the city building.

Several topics are on the agenda: a special presentation by Food City; election of officers; discussion of volunteer opportunities at CMS; plans for the 2010 CMS Fall Festival; and a discussion of future events. In addition, there will be a drawing for a door prize.

Snapshot Day
Tuesday, Oct. 7, is Tennessee Library Snapshot Day at the Clinton Public Library.

Libraries across the state gather statistics, comments, and photographs. The Clinton Public Library, the Tennessee Library Association, and the American Library Association will use these statistics and stories to create PR materials for funding agencies, governing bodies, legislators, and the public.
