Maverick Credit Union opens Monday
Y-12 Federal Credit Union is proud to announce that a new partnership with Clinton’s Anderson County High School will produce an in-school, student-run high school financial institution.
In order to celebrate this event, a ribbon-cutting will be held at Anderson County High School at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27. Refreshments will be served at 9:45 a.m.
The new financial institution is named Maverick Credit Union.Maverick Credit Union will be run by the students, for the students, with the supervision of Y-12 Federal Credit Union employees. The branch will be open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays during lunchtime. Three student volunteers were selected to work each shift at the branch: Kassie Bailey, Connor Irwin and Stefanie Kerley. Dylan Sain and Caleb Vibbert will serve as alternates. The student volunteers will be able to manage deposit and withdrawal transactions and will be trained to open accounts on-site in the future.
Students enrolled in ACHS’ shop class built the credit union kiosk located in the cafeteria. In addition, students will also head up marketing and membership promotions.
