Archer plans campaign kickoff
Rodney Archer, Anderson County trustee, will hold a campaign kickoff Thursday, March 18, at the Holiday Inn Express (near I-75).

The kickoff will be 5 to 7 p.m.

The reception will begin at 5 p.m. with acknowledgements at 6 p.m.

Norris Fellowship plans 'coffeehouse,' music
The Norris Religious Fellowship will host an “evening out on the town” coffeehouse and Celtic music Friday, March 19.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. and live music will start at 7 p.m.

Chicken wings, pizza and desserts along with hot and cold specialty drinks will be on the menu.

Celtic music will be performed by Ruth and Morgan Simmons, Kathleen and Herb Williams and Don Wood.

Serving will continue until 9:30.

The coffeehouse wll be in the fellowship hall, 23 Dogwood Road, Norris.

All proceeds will help pay for the NRF youth group mission trip to Atlanta this summer, working with The DOOR Network.

Animal shelter to host open house Saturday
The Oak Ridge Animal Shelter will host an “Open House & Meet Our Vets” from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 13.

The public is invited to tour the shelter and see the improvements for the past several months.

Since June 2009, the animal shelter has completed a number of improvements.

They include expansion of the parking lot, brush removal around the building and in the garden area, repainting the kennel area floors, cleaning the kennel area and outside of building, fresh paint in most rooms, and fresh paint and a mural in the lobby area.

During the event, special rates will be offered on some animals that are available for adoption.

Fish dinners in Norris
The St. Joseph Catholic Church (Norris) Men's Club will hold fish fries on Friday, March 12 and 26.

Serving each night will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The cost, including, dessert will be $7.

A portion of the proceeds will support Relay for Life.

CHS classes of ’78 and ’79 plan reunions
The Clinton Senior High School Classes of 1978 and 1979 are “gathering” online to plan for the 2011 reunion for the Class of 1978 and the 2011 “turning 50” reunion for the class of 1979.
