Benefit for Jamey Hill Feb. 11
A benefit for Jamey Hill, who had a kidney transplant in December, will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at Anderson County High School.

The benefit will be an evening of bluegrass and gospel music.

Expected to perform are Don Rigsby, Paul Williams & The Victory Trio, Jerry Butler & the Blu-Js and Rocky Flatts.

Freddy Smith will be the MC.

A donation will be taken at the door.

BBQ from Rickard Ridge will be available and a silent auction will begin at 6 p.m.

Medical bills for Hill are expected to exceed $40,000 this year.

Afghanistan and Iraq war memorial to be unveiled Monday
The Anderson County veterans’ service office will unveil the Iraq & Afghanistan War Memorial Plaque at 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8.

The plaque will be on the Anderson County veterans’ memorial in front of the courthouse.

The plaque will recognize Anderson County residents who have been killed in the conflicts.

Names being added to the memorial are SFC Stephen C. Kennedy of Oak Ridge, SSGT Daniel M. Morris of Clinton, SSGT James D. Connell, Jr. of Lake City and SPC Jason D. Hovater of Lake City.

The unveiling is open to the public.

Thursday Feb. 18 6:00 p.m - 8:00 p.m.

Saturday Feb. 20 9:00 a.m - 1:00 p.m.

There is a $30.00 sign up fee.
