Haiti benefit rescheduled
The Help for Haiti benefit, scheduled Saturday, Jan. 30, has been re-scheduled for Friday, Feb. 5.

The benefit, featuring eight musical groups, will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday at the Museum of Appalachia.

Musicians who are volunteering their time will be Hot Shot Freight Train, Just Krossing, Carol Hollow, Big Boy Band, Joyful Noise, Back Row Boys, Jennifer and Lopez and Liz&Tim.

Proceeds will benefit Partners in Health, a medical agency that has been working Haiti for more than two decades.

Benefit for kidney transplant recipient planned
A benefit for Jamey Hill, who had a kidney transplant in December, will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at Anderson County High School.

The benefit will be an evening of bluegrass and gospel music.

Expected to perform are Don Rigsby, Paul Williams & The Victory Trio, Jerry Butler & the Blu-Js and Rocky Flatts.

Freddy Smith will be the MC.

A donation will be taken at the door.

BBQ from Rickard Ridge will be available and a silent auction will begin at 6 p.m.

Medical bills for Hill are expected to exceed $40,000 this year.

Democrats to meet Feb. 4
The Anderson County Democratic party will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, to select its candidate for Anderson County juvenile judge.

The meeting will be at the courthouse in Clinton.
